Just Waiting: Guys. Seriously.

Gary Ross and Suzanne Collins said would they have in mind for Finnick, NOT that they have an actor to play him. So can I please stop seeing “THEY NEED TO TELL US WHO FINNICK IS NOW!!!1!” on my dash? They won’t tell us because they don’t have him yet.

If…

Actually, I never said I was mad at them for not telling us. I just said I was likely to freak out if they didn’t. People just want to know. They’re not mad at them for not telling us, they just want to know so badly. And I know that they only have someone in mind, it’s not set in stone, but I still want to know who it is.

I didn’t mean “you” as in you.  I mean “you” as others (the ones that are).  Ah, English.  The language of confusion.

And honestly, I don’t think this fandom should know until an actor is signed on and already filming his scenes.  If Gary and Suanne tell now, and he doesn’t get cast, I have a feeling that there is going to be arguing that resembles “Who was the better Dumbledore?”  And that still annoys me to this day.  I know they really want to know, but they can wait.  They’re probably going to sign on an actor sometime later this year.  Compared to other thing (Sherlock, Legend of Korra [dear God, The Legend of Korra]), the wait for Finnick’s actor is not going to take that long.

First of all, I really dislike Harry Potter, so I have no clue what most of what you just said means. Second of all, I don’t find it very relevant. Third of all, most everyone in the Hunger Games fandom who likes Finnick already has their preference, so tons of people are going to be upset when we find out who Finnick is. They might as well go ahead and tell us so that the people who are upset have plenty of time to simmer down. Fourth of all, I still don’t understand why you posted that people need to shut up. Just don’t read it.

Dumbledore was a main character in the Harry Potter series.  During the first two film adaptations, Richard Harris played him.  He died, causing Michael Gambon to replace him.  In the fandom, there are arguments still going on about which man was a better Dumbledore.  Yes, there are still arguments about it even though it’s been almost ten years since the change.  How is this relevant to Finnick’s actor?  Like you said, people have their own idea on who would play Finnick.  It will not matter on who is chosen, there will always be someone there to say “So and so should have been Finnick.”  While the majority will “shimmer down” I know for a fact I’m going to see someone keep bitching about it years later.  While I do want to know who they have in mind, I just rather wait for an official announcement.  Gary and Suanne would make things worse if they said who they wanted, getting some fans hopes up, but then having someone else play him.

Why did I make a post about wanting people to shut up?  I saw a number of people say that they “think it’s mean and unfair that we don’t get know who’s playing Finnick.”  That right there is completely false.  I don’t like how they are blaming out director and author for something they haven’t done (or haven’t not done. Oh look, I’m trying to be funny).  I rather they see a post that’s not calling out one single person, but a group.  My thinking?  Let them know now what they think is right is actually wrong before someone else does.  I know I can come across as a bitch, but I know that there are much worse people on here that would have no problem calling out a single person, making them feel super embarrassed.

By the way, it’s been showing that you reblog and answer twice.  I don’t know if that’s happening on your end, but it’s happening on mine.

I still think that the Harry Potter reference has nothing to do with any of this. They’re two completely different movies. And who are you to say that the people who posted those things are wrong? In their eyes I’m sure it is mean and unfair. Just because you “called out” a group of people instead of one person doesn’t make it any less hurtful. I’m not hurt by what you said, but someone could be. To me, one is not worse than the other because in the end, you are still calling someone out, it’s still embarrassing, and someone is still going to get hurt.
